2023 European Poomsae Taekwondo Championships, Innsbruck – Austria

TAEKWONDO AND PARA TAEKWONDO

The excitement within the Taekwondo community was palpable as Innsbruck, Austria hosted two landmark events: the 16th European Poomsae Taekwondo Championships and the 1st European Poomsae Para Taekwondo Championships. These competitions, which took place from 24th to 26th November 2023, brought together Europe’s finest athletes to showcase their mastery of Poomsae and Freestyle.

The competition was classified as a G4 event, which signifies a high-ranking tournament that will contribute significantly to the athletes’ standings. The event adhered to the latest World Taekwondo Poomsae Ranking Bylaw, ensuring a fair and competitive environment.

The 16th European Poomsae Taekwondo Championships and the 1st European Poomsae Para-Taekwondo Championships were not only competitions but also celebrations of the art and sport of Taekwondo, offering a platform for athletes to demonstrate their dedication, skill, and spirit, further enriching the tapestry of Taekwondo’s storied history.

After nearly 12 months of solid Taekwondo Poomsae competitions across England (including the British National Championships this year, held in October 2023),I am incredibly proud and delighted to inform you that Gabriel has won his first major European competition in the recognised Poomsae Team Male Cadetscategory, held at Olympiahalle, in Innsbruck, Austria.

Gabriel and his teammates officially became European Poomase Taekwondo Champions after competing against the national teams from Sweden (5th), Spain (4th), Netherlands (3rd) and Italy (2nd) with Great Britain winning convincingly in first place as European Champions.

Gabriel’s overall result and medal tally during the European Championships saw him accomplish GB and officially become European Champion.
