Please consider joining this pilgrimage, if possible in person, or online at walsingham.org.uk/live-stream/T he need for prayer to support life has been great since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act. It is now increasingly needed as the pressures to allow abortion up to birth grow, along with a swelling campaign to introduce Assisted Suicide. Pope Saint John Paull II urged everyone to join in the 'great prayer for life'. A poster is displayed on noticeboards in the Church giving further information.

In 2018, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales hosted Adoremus - a National Eucharistic Congress - in Liverpool. Later this year, on 14 September 2024, Adoremus at Oscott will be held to coincide with the 53rdInternational Eucharistic Congress in Quito, Ecuador. Adoremus is an ongoing program that aims to place the Eucharistic Lord at the heart of all we do.

Each diocese has been invited to send just 44 delegates, so we are not asking for parishes to nominate delegates, as before. If, however, there is someone you believe would benefit from joining the group travelling up, please email aec@rcaos.org.uk. The coach will leave around 7am from the Amigo Hall and return around 9pm that evening.

Parishes are asked to make extended provision for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, during Adoremus (14/15 September 2024), for which resources will be provided. A leaflet will be finalised based on the attached, which is for your information. Adoremus would clearly benefit from your prayers and the prayers of the faithful that weekend could feature a specific intention.

In brief:

  • Adoremus is an ongoing programme and on 14 September 2024 Adoremus at Oscott will be hosted by the Bishops' Conference.
  • Specific resources for adoration in parishes will be forwarded as soon as they are available
  • If you wish to encourage a parishioner to attend please email aec@rcaos.org.uk with their name, phone number and email.

With my prayers and best wishes,

Mark
